The other day I forced myself to go out in the dreary cold rainy day to see what I could find that had any photographic significance. Because I knew if I went out, I would find something, I always do. That’s the thing about most endeavors, showing up is the majority of the battle. And it was a struggle to get out there in 45° rain, but I captured more images than I would have had I not gone at all. It had been a while, years in fact, since I had taken a dedicated macro lens out to just shoot in the woods. It was by no means an ideal time of the year, but water always makes for interesting subjects. My favorite image of the collection below is the mushroom, which I almost didn’t take. It was on my way back when I was ready to be inside, but I love the towering nature with the green of the pine trees behind it.

I did shoot quite a few images that day, but with macro photography there is a lot of hit and miss, and even some of the misses still seemed pretty cool to include here. These were all just a few minutes walk out my back yard.
