Over the last 2 years I’ve slowly added new portfolio collections on my site and a macro collection was a long time coming. Macro photography has always been a long time passion of mine and I finally got around to adding a Macro Portfolio on my website this week. Even though it’s mostly older work for right now I’m planning on adding a lot more to it in 2024. I was able to pick up some new macro gear for Christmas this year, including a used copy of a Nikon Macro lens that has been on my list for literally 20 years.
I can already tell this coming year is going to be a more refining year for creating images. I spent most of 2023 bringing everything current, like a complete overhaul of my website, I’ve cleared out the backlog of edits that needed attention in Lightroom, got Flickr back up and running (side note: as far as I can tell Flickr, though they have had their issues over the years, are still to this day the only true photography focused site that is about images. They went through several “sales” and CEO’s and refocused iterations, but they are still operating, and they are about images, not whatever Instagram turned into). I also got to overhaul my gear, which was huge. Next year is going to be all about creating new images, but probably in a more narrow view, like more macro and nature than city and street.
Since we are in the middle of the coldest months in the south the hunt is on for mushrooms over flowers, and cool winter colors over bright spring blooms.
