Purple Banana Flowers Blooming

Banana Plant Purple Blooms for Scale

One of our latest blooming plants revealed their gigantic purples flowers this week. We have a few banana plants around the garden and they don’t always bloom. I didn’t think they were actually going to bloom this year at all since we moved them last year, and then they didn’t start growing leaves until really late in the season. We almost forgot they were there, but now, as it usually happens, they are all blooming.

These blooms are by far the largest flowers we have bloom every year. The exception might be the sunflowers we had a few years ago. On one of the images below I added my hand for scale, and then I took a shot from the other side of the garden to show the size of the plant itself. It is still kind of hard to get the sheer size of these flowers, but they are huge.

We do post a ton of garden content over on our garden site if you are interested in seeing more flowers head over to Dig.Garden for those.
