Capturing Last Faded Fall Colors

Red Flowers Fading into Winter

Well the frost finally killed off the last bit of the colors we had left in the yard, but some of the more hardy flowers are hanging on (the marigolds this year went crazy so we still have some of them). I’m really not sure how people live in colder climates, it’s already down to a high of 55ยฐ or so for a normal day, and to us, that is freezing. The weather can be crazy around here. A few days ago we got hit by a small December tornado when the morning temps were close to 70ยฐ and then the next day we had 30ยฐ and frost.

On this particular day a few weeks ago, after a heavy frost, I went around and looked for any color we had left in the yard. I love the more muted tones, almost pastels, of what color is left. I intentionally took these with a super shallow depth of field to emphasize the colors as the subjects.
