My Yearly Recap

As a way to take an objective view of my photography I am working on a yearly recap gallery for each year going backwards to the 90s. For each year below I select 24 images to represent the year. If interested, I also have a gear breakdown year by year.

2022 Thoughts

My initial thoughts about 2022 closely mirrored those of 2020 and 2021, as it remained a year overshadowed by Covid, albeit with the notable difference that the pandemic was evidently waning. Things were gradually falling into place once more. The sight of crowds gathering in 2022 was something that had been absent in the preceding two years, thus it felt different, albeit somewhat nerve-wracking for this introvert, to witness these large gatherings in person again. If I were to characterize this year, I would describe it as a blend of lingering effects of Covid and a transition towards the ‘new normal.’

The images captured during this year represent a diverse array of experiences. The impact of Covid had dampened my enthusiasm to lug around camera equipment, resulting in my gear dwindling down to just my iPhone. I had parted ways with my Sony a7iii and my sole lens, which constituted my entire professional camera setup at the time. Nonetheless, I continued to create images and document life, albeit in a more reserved manner, taking a backseat in the process.
