Boulevard of Broken Dreams

As is customary on Saturday’s around our place, I am usually out cutting part of the pasture grass and listening to my music, and today wasn’t much different. Today I had a very wide range of music set to random play and the song Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day came on. One thing I like to do with music, even with songs I know well, is read the written lyrics as I listen to the song.

As I listened to the familiar lyrics it got me thinking and wondering if this is sometimes how we as Christians feel at times. I am not going to repost all the lyrics to the song, but basically the songs chorus is summed up into a few words I Walk Alone.

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s home to me and I walk alone

It made me wonder how often we feel like this, even though we know differently in our hearts. Do we walk the road alone, or do we walk the road knowing and remembering that Jesus is right there beside us?
