Today for my Throwback Thursday post I decided to take this “away game week” and look ahead to Auburn’s next home game against Georgia. Back when I started blogging in the late 90’s I really had no idea that I was going to be thrust into a lifetime of blogging and site maintenance, but here we are almost 30 years later and I’m still writing. Sometimes I think I spend more time on fixing old posts than I do writing new content, but that does allow for a lot of review.
I came across these old images of Kodi Burns, Ben Tate, and Mario Fannin from back in the day and had to look at what else I captured that Saturday. These images are from my wayback machine. It was 2008 and the Auburn vs Georgia game was a really close game that day, but not what Auburn fans had hoped for in the end.
Almost all of the images here I never posted before, probably because after the game I wasn’t in the mood to post anything about this game. Apparently I did do a post that day, I just didn’t use very many images. So I guess now 17 years later I’m over it, maybe. But I do love the images I captured that day, even the shots of Matthew Stafford!
It’s tough being an Auburn fan sometimes. This week we lost our winningest head coach Bruce Pearl to retirement, we lost a beautiful human being Rudi Johnson to eternity, and everyone in Auburn is hoping we don’t lose, at home, again, to Georgia in a few Saturdays. In the mean time, here are some shots from that day.

2025 Postgame Edit: This ended up being one of the most frustrating games I can ever remember. I can’t recall leaving a game more irritated at a game, and the entire stadium was pretty much in the same mood. Auburn played an outstanding game, up until the 2 minute time out before the half when they were denied a score on the inch line by the officials and the review officials in Birmingham. That led to 85 yards in penalties against Auburn and allowed Georgia to score before the half. The rest of the game continued in that same manner until the end. Something has to change in college sports, in college football in particular, it is just a complete dumpster fire right now. People (fans) spend way too much money for the games to be decided by officials, for player to have no loyalty to a team, school, or community, only to the NIL money, paying players is a mess, the portal is a mess, the coaching carousel is a mess, having home games moved to Atlanta for the money instead of being played literally at home is beyond ridiculous. Sooner or later if all this keeps up fans will vote with their money and spend it elsewhere. End of rant.
