Uganda

Ugandan Boys Look Through the Window

As of 2022 I have taken multiple trips to Uganda. Each and every one was a unique and incredible experience. I love the people in Uganda, they are the friendliest people you will meet. My trips consisted of helping with several different projects, but most of time I was there to document the information through photography and video. I have a catalog of 50,000 images from those trips. Those are precious to me. If you want to see any of them you can start here with the Uganda Portfolio.

Update 2012

For Most Recent Information and recent posts on my current trip please visit my blog’s Uganda Section which has post by most recent date. The information below was setup for two mission trips to Uganda, which I took in 2011, which was highlighted in the post I’m Going to Uganda Africa and I Would Love Your Help. While I was in Uganda in 2011 I shot approximately 10,000 images, some of which I am still going over a year later. It was an incredible two trips.

Cornerstone Church in Auburn has built a relationship with Buloba Community Church in Buloba, Uganda for many years now. Our desire is to support the local church as they move to awaken people in their community to a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. Our focus on this trip will be leading members of Buloba Community Church in discipleship opportunities, providing a soccer day camp for the children in the community, working on a multi-purpose building that is used as their worship facility, and building relationships with the people of Buloba. I hope that you will pray with me as our team begins preparations for this trip and throughout our time in Uganda. Please pray for me to have strength, courage, and perspective, and also for our team to experience unity, strength, and direction.

I am currently scheduled on two trips for 2011, the first is on July 25th and the second is on October 1st. I’ll need to raise $3,250 per trip minimum to cover my own costs. This amount will pay for my transportation ($2,500), lodging, and meals ($500) while in Uganda, and vaccinations ($250 per trip, $500 total).

If you would like to contribute financially you can write a check to Cornerstone Church. Checks can be mailed to 2123 Hamilton Road, Auburn, AL 36830. If you would like to make a payment online using a debit or credit card please go to http://www.scottfillmer.com/tag/uganda All payments made online are sent directly to Cornerstone Church and are tax deductible as well.

Photography in Uganda

Because my role on this trip mostly involves photography I have additional photographic expenses well above my stated $500 per trip and would appreciate any support you could provide for costs such as film, memory cards, development and processing, printing, and equipment costs directly related to and specifically for the Uganda trip.

Hi Scot, I would like to appreciate for the great work you are doing to change the lives of vulnerable people in the community of Buloba. My name is Patrick and as i was looking for something online i came to see your incredible site talking about your coming to Uganda on 25/july/2011, since Buloba is not so far from where i live, just thought i rather tell you what we are doing maybe you can visit as well. we are working to change the lives of street children in Uganda and we have got an orphanage where we cater for over 50 children who were once street children and due to our regular outreach to street children we have seen that God has done a lot to change these children but if you and your team could visit and pray with them, experience for yourself the incredible blessing that comes from encouraging “the least of these.” It is an investment in your future and the future generation in Uganda!
Our organization is called Raising Up Hope for Uganda, it is a christian based organization that is strive to change the lives of orphans and the vulnerable communities in Uganda.

    Hello Scott,

I too have taken a great interest in the Swahili of Uganda. As a matter of fact, I did my research paper on the Unreached People Group of Uganda as you did in 2011. I utilized many of the resources you provided and cited you as the originator. I praise God for what you and others are doing to reach these unreached people with the Gospel of Christ employing an Holistic Mission approach by rendering Christian much sacrificial services. Three years ago I had the priviledge of visiting Kenya. I spoke with some Christians while their and they informed me about the orphan crisis. I’m praying about partnershipping with their ministry. If I can be of assistance, please let me know. My email address is vwoods7@liberty.edu

Many blessings and my prayers are with you all.

P.S. it had to be God that allowed me to find your website.

@Vanessa sorry for the long delay in replying to your post, I had taken a bit of a break from my blog to do some offline writing. So thankful for your comment, it was quite a blessing to read today!
