People collect things all the time. I think this is one of my “collections,” even if it is an odd one. I wish I had some of the domains I let go, but most aren’t worth what I paid for them. Once they are registered, and then not renewed, a domain company buys them in bulk for pennies on the dollar and for all purposes you can pretty much never get them back. I’ve tried to get back fillmer.com and scottfillmer.me for a long time, but nobody would sell them back to me even though it’s pretty much only worth something to me.
I tend to buy ones I want to use for a period of time and if I don’t do anything significant with them within that year, I usually let them go. My oldest domain to date is piecesofthepast.com which has a creation date of:
Creation Date: 1998-05-27T04:00:00Z
I’ve recently moved almost all of my domain hosting over to WordPress after Squarespace bought Google Domains. Most of my domains have been hosted by GoDaddy over the years, but I have used just about everyone from time to time.

I have owned so many domains over the years I my conclusion on owning different names at different times is, they are pretty much worthless except to the one single organization or person who wants to use it. This is a strange space on the internet, domain properties, but they are cheap and easy to use.
