Welcome

Welcome to my little slice of the Internet. I’m truly honored you stopped by. I am a Freelance Photographer and a Content Manager based out of Auburn, Alabama. I create custom photography services to writing online content to managing social media accounts. If you are interested in my freelance work as a photographer or writer, please contact me to start the conversation.

About My Website

On this site I mainly focus on photography, but I do write around topics on faith, life, photography, technology, sailing, sports, gardening, or whatever is happening in life at that time. My Blog was started in 2004 and has a lot of history, my Journal is a collection of pages on many different topics, and my Portfolios are photographic collections of work going back almost 30 years now.

About My Photography

My personal photography concentrates on creating high quality images with whatever gear I’m currently using. I’ve been shooting more than 30 years now and if you are reading this in 2024, I’ve tried to narrow my focus in photography quite a bit to bring more value to my clients while also shooting things I’m passionate about creating like Street Photography and Travel Photography. You can read more about my photographic journey or see my photography services I offer.

To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event.

~Henri Cartier-Bresson

If you want to just flip through some of my current photography then start over on my blog. My blog now has decades of material and it’s still updated frequently.

About Me

I have lived all over the country, with most of my roots in Alabama, and I call the Auburn/Opelika area home. Over the years I’ve loved my time living in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, and various other places, but Auburn will always be home to me. I’ve had the privilege of traveling all over the world from Australia to Uganda and everywhere in between. This has given me a unique perspective on different cultures and ways of life I could never have understood without having gone there, and it’s impacted my life and thinking tremendously.

My passions in life that surrounds me daily, that push me forward is, my love for the Lord , my family, and then my personal connection with photography and all the nuances contained in that art form.

Personal Statement

In this post-911-post-covid world things can feel quite overwhelming at times. I recognize most people are doing the best they can, and we don’t all have to agree on everything all the time, and I’m ok with that. I respect everyone equally to the very best of my abilities no matter who they are or what they say. I hope you will afford me the same respect as I do you.

I look forward to connecting with you. If you have a blog or website I would love to take a look at it, please leave a comment below with your website address so we can all check it out!

Now, is that a Boston Red Sox hat you are wearing in that photo at the top of this page? Seems we both may be members of another “nation.”

yeah, moment of weakness, didn’t want my head to get sunburned and my auburn hat wore out… i’m actually more of a Yankees fan anyway, so wearing a boston hat was bad bad lol

Appreciated your post on the importance of Leviticus. Some great points.

A little housekeeping though- check your usage of peaked on your “about me” page. Guessing you meant piqued. And I won’t be offended if you remove this comment upon reading- in fact, please do!

Hi Mr. Fillmer, I am a high school student and I have a speech that involves photos of snowflakes. I really loved your photo of the snowflakes on the window called Snowflake Photo on a Frosted Window and I was wondering if I could use it. It will be properly cited in MLA format. I hope you consider this. Thanks!
