The Lockheed C-130 Hercules Flyover from Fort Benning to Montgomery

For the last several weeks these C-130’s have been flying directly over our property, at about 1,000 feet off the ground.  While they are not as loud as an F-14 with afterburners fired, they can really beat the surrounding air, especially when flying in pairs.  That’s just what they did last night at about 1:30am, felt like the windows were going to break.

This shot was taken about 15 miles farther into their flight path, almost directly over AUO (Auburn University Regional Airport) around 6pm.  I am only drawing the conclusion they are flying from Fort Benning to Montgomery, but it is pretty cool to see them flying overhead, just not at 2am.

Classic Lamp and the Brick Wall

The photo of the day today is one I call a classic but it is really just because I like to take photos of lighting in hotel rooms, especially when they are accompanied by the classic exposed brick wall. Similar to this shot in Colorado, but with no ambient light here.

Hotel Lights in Birmingham Hotel a Blaze

The photo of the day today comes from the lobby of the hotel we stayed at in Birmingham last week.  They had a really cool set of stringed lights hanging down from the ceiling.  This is actually another iPhone camera photo so it’s a little more grainy than my DSLR but I still think it works well.

Nails Before the Trim Up Close

Photo of the day today is something a little different.  Love the lighting and soft colors of the manicure before they are all trimmed up.  Yes, I was the photographer for this photo shoot.  Wasn’t something I had done often, or ever, but it was pretty cool.

Auburn University’s Samford Hall Between the Hedges

Probably the most over photographed spot on the Auburn campus has to be Samford Hall, but for good reason, it has those photographic qualities that stand out from all angles.  This is a little less traditional shot of Samford Hall, which kind of makes it look like a toy train station building.  War Eagle everyone.

Jimi Hendrix and the Red Wall of Art in Opelika

Photo of the day today comes from a shot I took a while back from a cool little place in Opelika called 8th and Rail.  This night was an art and music night provided by some local artists.

Black and White Gatorade Color on a JV Football Field

Today’s photo of the day comes from a football game we went to last night.  Deborah and I had a great time getting to see some of the JV guys play for a change, and although this shot doesn’t have any of the football players in the shot, it is still one of my favorites of the night.

Old School Black and White Portrait Filmy Like

Photo of the day today is a shot I took in almost no light with a very bumped up ISO (film speed).  Sometimes grain and texture work, I think it does here because of Jacob’s expression, he’s quite a character.

Early Sunday Morning Light at Cornerstone Church

The photo of the day today is another iPhone camera shot in between services at Cornerstone Church in Auburn.  The fall (although it is still hot) makes for some beautiful color even without the leaves.

High Contrast Lighting with iPhone 4 Camera and a Lamp

Something a little different for the photo of the day, this was another shot I took with my iPhone camera.  The sticker on the light at the restaurant just caught my attention.  Still pretty impressed by the camera sensor on this phone for this type of exposure.
